“Just living is not enough
one must have sunshine, freedom & a little flower” – Hans Christian Anderson

Hi, I’m Vince Vivona and I’ve lived in Brooklyn for all of my 60 years. My first foray into photography was in 1966 at a time when I was stationed overseas. While there I needed to find a better way to spend my free time so I headed off to the Base photo lab.

It was there that I was first introduced to the concept of developing photos. As a part of my training I worked on all the fundamental steps of dark room procedures. I knew I was hooked when I saw my very first photo materialize before my eyes. I was like a kid in a candy store. Next, I set out to learn what it took to capture a good photo. I tried Black & White vs. Color; people photos vs. nature. When I took some photos while in a garden in Germany, I realized what I loved was taking nature photos. Years later I still enjoy outdoor photography, especially flowers, foliage and butterflies. Within the last few years, through the use of my computer, I found a new magic using my photos as a base for creative abstract artwork.

All my earlier photos were taken using a 35mm Argus C3. About 20 years ago I purchased a 35mm Minolta Maxxum 9xi. My slide film of choice has always been Fujichrome Velvia. Of late, my interest has moved toward Digital Photography so I purchased a Nikon Coolpix 990. However, my first love is still my Minolta.

My passion is for creative photos associated with Botanical & Butterfly Gardens but I derive the most fun by finding a truly wonderful flower in the neighborhood area gardens of Brooklyn where I have spent most of my life.

“If you get simple beauty and naught else,
You get about the best thing God invents” – Robert Browning

Recently, I made my photos available for sale and my first showing was a very successful “Washington Square Park Outdoor Art Exhibit.” I plan to exhibit my work at several shows this year and I will post these exhibit dates and locations on this web site.

This gallery is primarily intended to allow you to relax and to put the rush of the world behind you. So please sit back, sip a warm cup of tea and move slowly through my Photo Gardens. Spend a few moments and revel in the peace, the tranquility and the colors of the outdoor experience. If you see a photo that you especially enjoy, feel free to comment. I look forward to your interaction and I welcome your feedback.

If you have a little more time, move to the Abstract Nature Garden. This is a special treat. At my first show many people found these photos to be the most interesting. For me, it is just the pure joy of capturing the beauty of nature.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoyed your experience. Please come again as every month I will add new work.
